Our Himalayaloden is a traditional brushed woollen fabric. Because of the tile-like arrangement of wool fibres, this fabric is also naturally water repellent.
The characteristically shiny look and extraordinary smoothness of Classic 440 is achieved by a special textile finishing technology. As on all other qualities from our CLASSIC range, this technique uses natural teasels turning it into an extraordinary fabric. Raising the cloth with natural teasels gives our loden qualities not only their beautiful sheen and luxurious drape, it even makes the fabric naturally water repellent. The addition of alpaca fibres makes the cloth particularly noble and at the same time more robust.

Benefits of Classic 540
100% Nature

Australian Merino wool is unrivalled regarding its sustainability. It is an entirely natural fibre grown by millions of Australian sheep every year and thus a renewable and sustainable resource. All it requires is the simple combination of sheep, sunlight, water and grass.
Unlike most synthetic fibres such as Polyester (PES) or Polyamide (PA), Merino wool is biodegradable: it takes only a few years to completely decompose. During this process the wool also slowly releases valuable nutrients. It is the perfect choice for those who prefer clothing that has a minimal impact on the environment.

Easy care

Merino wool’s overall natural stain and soil resistance is significantly better than that of cotton or synthetic fibres. It has a natural protective layer that is bonded to the surface and can therefore not easily be removed. These overlapping scales are slow to absorb liquids and thus allow spills to be wiped off before permanent staining occurs. Merino wool only generates very little static electricity and does not attract dirt or lint as most commonly used textile fibres. Further information can be found in our stain removal guide for interior fabrics.

Soft & comfortable

Australian Merino wool is much finer than traditional types of wool and feels luxuriously gentle on the skin. Merino wool fibres actively regulate temperature, forming a microclimate around the body. It easily adapts to the body’s temperature under changing conditions, enabling the body to retain an optimum temperature in hot or cold environments. This characteristic makes wool a versatile all-season fabric. Merino wool is able to absorb perspiration and then release it into the air. It is a highly breathable material and as it decreases the humidity between the skin and the garment, it is also less prone to clamminess.
