Classic 540 Himalayaloden N° 111 (Leichtfried Apparel Product)

The traditional Himalayaloden Classic 540 springs from our company’s long tradition of producing loden fabrics. The homogenous blend of Merino wool and alpaca fibres accounts for the special robustness and high quality of this brushed loden. Because of the tile-like arrangement of wool fibres, this fabric is also naturally water repellent.

Through continuous advancement of the color palette, this first-rate loden quality has also earned a high reputation in the fashion industries.

100% NatureBenefits of woolfor apparel

Australian Merino wool is undisputed regarding its sustainability. It is an entirely natural fibre grown by millions of Australian sheep every year and thus a renewable and sustainable fibre resource. All it requires is the simple combination of sheep, sunlight, water and grass.

Unlike most synthetic fibres such as Polyester (PES) or Polyamide (PA), Merino wool is biodegradable and it takes only a few years to decompose back into earth, slowly releasing valuable nutrients. It is the perfect choice for those who prefer clothing that has a minimal impact on the environment.

Soft & comfortableBenefits of woolfor apparel

Australian Merino wool is much finer than traditional types of wool and feels luxuriously gentle against the skin. Merino wool fibres actively regulate temperature, forming a microclimate around the body. It easily adapts to the body’s temperature under changing conditions, enabling the body to retain an optimum temperature in hot or cold environments. This characteristic makes wool a versatile all-season fabric. Merino wool is able to absorb perspiration and then release it into the air. It is extremely breathable and as it decreases humidity between skin and garment, it is less prone to clamminess.

InnovativeBenefits of woolfor apparel

The combination of a natural and renewable resource with innovative finishing processes makes Merino wool the fibre of choice for both clothing brands and fashion designers. These innovations meet increasing consumer demands for more functional fabrics and create new opportunities for textile production.

ColourfulBenefits of woolfor apparel

Designer and clothing brands love working with Merino wool, as its colour palette is almost infinite. In the past, traditional woollen textiles such as loden fabrics used to be available only in dark, earthy shades. Innovative and modern use of colour and new production technologies have helped advance our colour range and opened doors to international renowned fashion houses.

Felting abilityBenefits of woolfor apparel

Merino wool fibres have a unique surface structure of tiny overlapping scales, which contribute to many of its performance qualities. These scales are also the base for felting. Felted surfaces are created when wool fibres slip over one another and the scales interlock, preventing the fibre from returning to its original shape. The process can be controlled to produce dense woollen fabrics creating a unique handle and drape. Felting textures also improve clothing physiological parameters such as the thermal insulation.

Easy careBenefits of woolfor apparel

Merino wool’s overall natural stain & soil resistance is significantly better than that of cotton or synthetic fibres. It has a natural protective layer that is bonded to the surface and can therefore not easily be removed. These overlapping scales are slow to absorb liquids and thus allow spills to be wiped off before permanent staining occurs.

Merino wool only generates very little static electricity and does not attract dirt or lint as most commonly used textile fibres. The fine crimp allows Merino wool to bounce back to its natural shape and gives wool garments a natural wrinkle resistance. Wool garments thus maintain an ‘as new’ look for a longer period. Further information can be found in our general care instructions for apparel fabrics.
