A decision is now made as to which type of loden is to be produced. Cloth loden has to be dried, shrunk (so that there is no further change when being tailored), clipped on the shearing machine, pressed and finally sanforised on the kier decatiser.

Nap, soft and double face loden must undergo several passings on raising machines – that includes the teasel machine for combing the nap on nap loden – and is then clipped, pressed and sanforised.

Nap loden is kier decatized, while soft and double face loden undergoes soft finish decatising.
